Education and Early Career
  • Graduated magna cum laude from the University of South Florida in 1990, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in mass communications/print journalism;
  • Received her law degree in 1993 from the Stetson University College of Law, graduating cum laude;
  • Served as Comments Editor of the Stetson Law Review;
  • Listed in Who's Who Among American Law Students;
  • Member of the Florida Bar since 1993 and licensed to practice in the Southern, Middle, and Northern District Courts of Florida and in the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals; and
  • Served as a Law Clerk to the Honorable Bobby W. Gunther of the Fourth District Court of Appeal of Florida from 1993 to 1994.
Professional Experience
  • Ms. Ebenfeld joined the law firm of Hicks, Anderson & Blum as an associate in 1994 and worked her way up to name partner of the firm, which became known as Hicks, Porter, Ebenfeld & Stein, P.A.;
  • Through February of 2025, Ms. Ebenfeld co-chaired the litigation division of Hicks, Porter, Ebenfeld & Stein and practiced insurance coverage litigation, commercial litigation, insurance defense, and appeals;
  • In addition to her litigation and mediation experience, Ms. Ebenfeld is a sought after speaker on insurance coverage and claims handling issues;
  • Ms. Ebenfeld also does pro bono work for victims of natural disasters and mentors law students and young lawyers on legal writing and appellate advocacy;
  • Ms. Ebenfeld practices in all federal courts in Florida, state courts throughout Florida, and the Florida Supreme Court;
  • Ms. Ebenfeld has tried cases in both state and federal court, including jury trials;
  • Ms. Ebenfeld has testified as an expert on insurance claims handling in federal court;
  • Ms. Ebenfeld has been retained as an expert on attorneys' fees in state court; and
